SUSTAINABILITY

Conscious Fashion

LOW WASTE

Promoting slow fashion, we create limited collections that are designed to be timeless. Designs are also made in low quantities and orders completed on a made-to-order basis to avoid excess waste from unsold inventory.

Wear your wearable art pieces over and over again with several outfits to help create less waste. Pass pieces along or donate for a longer life cycle.

NATURAL MATERIALS

Nature provide all the luxury we could ever want. That's what we think anyway.

illa is committed to using natural materials that can de-compost or have limited environmental impact due to its composition and processing.

Pledging NO POLYESTER. Polyester being a synthetic material (plastic) made from petroleum - a non renewable energy source. Polyester contributes to waste build up, plastic particles in our soil, water and bodies via the clothes we wear. Not to mention the severe damage oil extraction, spills and use cause on the environment. illa's designs only use Polyester minimally where stretch is required or if materials are being up-cycled.

Leather use is influenced by the philosophy and practices from Indian and indigenous philosophies in which consumption is circular and in harmony with nature. These cultures give us lessons on how to consume in alignment with the environment. Working with nature where to use the entire animal and all parts of it out of respect for the earths’ gifts. This includes the skin which is compostable and sustainable with its ability to withstand decades and even lifetimes of use. Illa chooses this method over polyester and vegan leathers made from plastic and oil that do not compost polluting the soil, water and air. Leather contributes to circular economy and has far lower negative environmental impact than vegan leather; plastic. Harmful for the environment and our bodies.

FUTURE GOALS

Illa’s strives to contribute to advances in sustainability within the fashion industry while creating timeless pieces designed to be sophisticated, edgy, glamorous and fun.

We continue to stay informed and educated on new fabrics available that are made from natural and organic materials or utilize low impact production processes to incorporate in future collections.
